Waterman Phileas
If you are looking for a very nice looking (and high quality) pen then the Waterman Phileas pen
may be exactly what you need. The Phileas pens are also very affordable, at least when compared to many of the
other Waterman pens out there, especially the fountain pens. Who would have thought that you could buy a Waterman
pen for as cheap as $30 or so? Well, with the Waterman Phileas ballpoint pen, now you can.
However, if you want to go with the Waterman Phileas fountain pen, you will most likely be
spending at least $50 or more, much like with any other fountain pen of reasonable quality. So what is the big
difference between fountain pens and rollerball pens? With a fountain pen, the ink is stored in an “ink well”, and
the ink just runs down to the tip of the pen. Fountain pens generally offer greater reliability (and appeal to pen
collectors), but on the downside, they don’t usually write as consistently as the ballpoint pens (as far as the
thickness of the text that you write goes).
As with any good Waterman pen, the Phileas comes as a plain pen made with standard materials, or can also have
solid gold components added to it, depending on how expensive of a model you decide to go with. But even the gold
Waterman pens are priced pretty reasonably. If you want a Waterman Phileas fountain pen with gold, then expect to
pay around $70 or more. If you want a Waterman Phileas ballpoint pen with gold, then you will most likely only have
to spend about $50 or so.
